At the unveil event, the Chief Executive Officer of Etisalat Nigeria, Mr. Steven Evans said that the five winners of the contest, which started as an online competition designed to recruit innovative and technologically savvy individuals, will have the opportunity of a one year paid internship with Etisalat Nigeria.

Explaining the selection process, Evans disclosed that the competition was designed in the model of a social media reality show that required contestants to upload 2-3 minute videos showing how geeky they were. “We received over 1,000 interesting videos and went through a rigorous selection process to select 41 videos which we uploaded online for voting. The top 20 videos were then selected based on viewer ‘likes’/votes on our Facebook/Tumblr page, and the 20 contestants went on to face a panel of judges who made the tough decision of selecting the final 10 contestants we have here today,” he said.
He added, “The Top 10 finalists are going to go on and work in five departments in our organization; they will be assigned with a variety of tasks and tests as well as mentors from our senior management team. After six weeks, the top 5 will be the winners of a one year Geek Internship at Etisalat.”

APGA suspends Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State
APGA is accusing him of dissolving his cabinet so he could include more members of the newly registered political party, APC, in his government.
“The NEC unanimously resolved to suspend, with immediate effect, the Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okoroacha, from the party for gross anti-party activities, bordering on his involvement with the All Progressives Congress contrary to the clear provisions of the APGA constitution." The National Vice-Chairman of APGA (South-West), Tayo Sowunm said .

EFCC arrests man with 30 ATM cards and 8 signed cheques
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested one Kingsley Mudi over alleged ATM fraud. He was picked up at about 11 pm on August 2, 2013 at Fidelity Bank ATM on Airport Road, Warri, Delta State following an intelligence report.
At the point of arrest, 30 ATM cards of different banks with which he allegedly withdrew a total sum of five hundred and fifty thousand naira (N550, 000) were found in his possession. Eight signed UBA cheques belonging to sundry persons were also found on him. Kingsley Mudi, who claimed to be a Disc Jockey and an operator of a barbing salon, has volunteered useful information.
He will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

Fans lash out at Chika Ike over divorce announcement
Nollywood actress, Chika Ike may run the risk of being blacklisted by fans as loads of criticism keep rocking her boat since she publicly announced that she’s now officially divorced.
Probably in a move to get sympathy from fans, the actress took to social network Facebook in the wee hours of Monday, July 29, 2013, to announce to her teeming fans that the court has finally granted her a divorce.
“Hi fans. Thank you all for your love and support over the years. It’s been an emotional journey and I want to announce to you guys that the court has granted me a divorce. I’m now officially divorced. Thanks,” she posted.

Globacom today dropped their Nollywood ambassadors with the exception of four people - Chioma Chukwuka, Ini Edo, Funke Akindele and Desmond Elliot. Man arrested in Lagos for having sex with a mad woman
21-year old man, Lateef Sulaiman, for allegedly scaled a 14-feet fence to gain entrance into the Lagos State Rehabilitation and Training Centre, Majidun area of Ikorodu, Lagos, to have sex with the said mad woman.
Sulaiman was said to have jumped into the female dormitory around 9.30 p.m. and had sex with the mad woman before he was arrested and handed over to the taskforce at Alausa.
In his confessional statement at the taskforce headquarters, Sulaiman allegedly said he had had sex with a mad woman at the rehabilitation centre on five occasions before his arrest, saying that he knew where the female dormitory was because he had gone to the centre in the past to seek employment and had thoroughly studied the environment.
He was arraigned at the Special Offences Court, Alausa in Ikeja for his alleged offence
Sulaiman was slammed with a four-count charge. In the first count charge, he was said to have scaled the 14-feet fence of the rehabilitation home and slept with a mentally ill inmate and thus committed an offence punishable under the laws of Lagos State.
Having pleaded not guilty, he was granted bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties who must be civil servants and present evidence of tax payment for five years.
Sulaiman could not meet the bail conditions and was remanded at the Badagry Prison
