Lagos was agog on Sunday, April 14, 2013, when Encomium, the magazine and events company, staged the 4th edition of The Black & White Ball. Held at Ruby Gardens on Klm 11, Lekki Epe Expressway, Lekki, Lagos, the high octane event incorporating the Elegance and Style Awards and showcasing jaw-dropping drapes and duds attracted loads of music and movie stars, comedians, politicos, uncommon entrepreneurs, serious professionals and captains of industry. The Black & White Ball equally featured music and comedy, dinner and dance.

Mercy Johnson and husband dedicate their daughter

The much awaited baby dedication of Mercy Johnson and her husband, Prince Odi Okojie, took place at their Lagos home on Sunday, April 28, 2013,the actress and her family relocated from their Omole estate home to their personal house at Thomas Estate, Ajah, Lagos. The new landed property was  the venue of the event .
 After dedicating the child at Christ Embassy Church in Lagos, the couple feted friends and family members to sumptuous meals and drinks.

The occasion had many well-wishers of the couple turned out for the event.

Those at the event couldn't hide their joy for the family and the baby, Purity. They also rejoiced with Mercy Johnson for a safe child delivery in December 2012 and likewise a safe return to Nigeria from the United States of America.

Celebrity Dazzle at the 2013 Africa Movies Academy Awards in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State

Last Saturday 20th April 2013 the highly anticipated Africa Movie Academy Awards held at Yenagoa, Bayelsa State to honor the talented ladies and gentlemen who have made the African movie industry what it is today.
Actors, musicians, OAP’s, models, directors and other individuals in the entertainment industry such asRita Dominic, Waje, Flavor,Timi Dakolo, Bryan Okwara, Wole Ojo, O.C Ukeje, Uti Unachukwu,Zack Orji, Vina, Ibinabo Fiberesima, Alex Ekubo, Yvonne Okoro, Beverly Naya, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ugo Igbokwe, Osita Iheme, Chinedu Ikedezie and many more were in attendance.
Highlights from the show included peformances from Waje, Flavor among other artists. Awards given included the Best Film – “Confusion Na Wa”, the Best Supporting actor - Gabriel Afolayan and the post-humous award to the late Justus Esiri for Best Actor in a leading role.

Jackie Appiah, Denies Affair With Bobby Obodo

The management of Ghanaian star actress, Jackie Appiah, whose marriage was dissolved some months back, has issued a press statement to readdress the issue of her relationship with the Nigerian actor and activist, Michael Bobby Obodo.

Before the statement was issued, Jackie has been spotted with Michael Bobby Obodo in different locations in Accra in the past weeks, this has generated a lot of speculations that they are dating each other, Jackie has vehemently denied this affair.

Jackie Appiah was spotted at D-Black’s album launch on December 16, 2012, at the Movenpick Hotel, after which the two had a private meeting at the hotel’s lounge over some drinks, on December 21, they were together at the Smirnoff Spotlight Shakedown, December 22, at the Aphrodisiac Nightclub and then on December 26, at the Night of 1015 Laughs and Music.

Lebanese man found dead at his home in Nigeria after robbery

A Lebanese man, Adel Jamil Bejjani (pictured above) was beaten to death yesterday Saturday April 27th at his home in Nigeria by unidentified men during a robbery operation.

The 29 year old man worked as a manager of a hotel and was planning on leaving Nigeria to reside permanently in Lebanon on May 5 before his untimely death.

Lebanon Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour confirmed Adel's death, saying they believe he was beaten to death during a robbery operation at his home. He also said they have contacted the Lebanese embassy in Abuja and have been informed that Bejjani's body will be transferred to Lebanon on Monday April 29th. The embassy will work with the Nigerian police to find the men who killed Adel.

Nine JAMB candidates die in horrific car accident in Aba

 

Nine JAMB candidates died on Friday April 27th in a fatal accident along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway when the bus they were traveling in rammed into a stationery truck after the driver of the bus lost control of his vehicle while speeding.

There were 15 passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident, nine of them died instantly. The bus driver and conductor also lost their lives. The six remaining seriously injured passengers who survived the accident were immediately taken to the hospital. The 15 JAMB candidates had been traveling from Port Harcourt to Aba to sit for the exam which took place yesterday. May they RIP!

Meet Venezuela's new sexy Sports Minister

32 year old Alejandra Benitez is the new Sports Minister of Venezuela. The fencing champion fenced for Venezuela during the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympics. Last week, she made history by becoming Venezuela's first ever female Minister. She was appointed Sports Minster by Venezuela's President, Nicolas Maduro. Alejandra Benitez is the talk of the town in her country after a series of saucy snaps she posed for before the 2008 Olympics in Beijing were re-published online after she was announced as Sports Minister. She's been dubbed by Venezuelan media as 'Maduro's sexy minister.'

The man deported from Saudi Arabia for being 'too handsome'

Drop dead gorgeous actor, poet and fashion photographer Omar Borkan Al Gala (pictured above) from UAE was one of the three men ordered to leave a cultural festival early this month in Saudi Arabia and then thrown out of the country because authorities thought their looks could corrupt their young women.

Arabic newspaper Elaph wrote: ‘A festival official said the three Emiratis were taken out on the grounds they are too handsome and that the commission (for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vices) members feared female visitors could fall for them.’

‘I stay younger by dating younger’ - Gabrielle Union tells People mag

40 year old actress Gabrielle Union was featured in People Magazine 100 Most Beautiful Women in the World issue and when asked how stays and looks young, she replied:

"I started drinking a gallon of water a day in my mid-thirties. It changed everything from weight maintenance, to hair, skin, nails and digestion. Plus, I stay younger by dating younger. Dip into the kiddie pool, ladies! It worked for me!

Gabrielle is dating NBA star, Dwayne Wade, who is 9 years her junior.

It's not like I feel there's anything wrong with dating younger men, it's just a personal choice. For me, once I find out a guy is younger than I am, I find a way to make him lose my number.

I have Been trending for the past two days now. Day one was about people wishing me well and praying for me on my birthday. Day two is now filled with gossip, scandals and all sorts, but that is as far as the so called journalists and bloggers are concerned. As far as I am concerned I had a blast on my birthday and I will not allow other human beings steal my joy regardless.

I choose to enjoy my life because I know I deserve it. Nobody went through my own trying times with me and I did not go through any with others.
