25 year old DJ shot dead in surulere

I hear there's been a few gang related killings among young men who live in the Shitta, Akerele, Bank Olemoh area of Surulere. One was killed on Sunday at Block 28 opposite Shitta Primary School. Another one, a DJ, was shot dead yesterday. See the Punch report below

The residents of Bank Olemoh Street, Surulere, Lagos, were terrified on Monday when two gunmen shot dead Olamide George (pictured above), a 25-year-old deejay.

According to eyewitnesses, the assassination was carried out at about 2pm while George was with friends under a tree, popularly known as Abe Igi.

Luis Suarez banned for 10 matches by FA for biting Ivanovic

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has received a 10-game ban from the English FA for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic during a game on Sunday April 21st.

The FA released a statement today saying:

"A three-person independent regulatory commission today upheld the FA's claim that a suspension of three matches was clearly insufficient and the player will serve a further seven first-team matches in addition to the standard three.The suspension begins with immediate effect."

Suarez has until Friday April 26th to appeal the suspension.

Lauryn Hill has 2 weeks to pay half a million dollars or go to jail

Sad situation for an iconic singer like her to be in, but that's her reality. Lauryn Hill was scheduled to be sentenced yesterday Monday April 22nd after pleading guilty on tax evasion charges for failing to report $1.8 million in income. At her sentencing yesterday, the mother of 6 was given two weeks to come up with $504,000 or face up to two and a half years in prison. She has up until May 6 to produce the money. Beyonce and Jay Z, please come to her aid! :-)

Comic Actor, Saka, Romances MTN; Dumps Etisalat

We have reports that popular comic actor, Hafiz Oyetoro well known as Saka, has dumped the Dubai telecoms giants, Etisalat.

The multiple award winning actor has now pitched his tent with South Africa's network provider called MTN.

Saka has been on the payroll of Etisalat for over two years until his new romance with MTN. No concrete reason was gathered for the switch but it is being speculated that MTN may have offered Saka more money than what Etisalat had offered him.

He has already shot a TV commercial for MTN. More details soon.

After reporting what happened to Sandra Ekperuoh's workshop (It was sealed by officials of the Waste Water Management and Sewage Board yesterday ,the gates of the workshop was re-opened last night around 10pm upon directive of the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola

One of the governor's aides read about the incident online and called the staff at the workshop to find out the situation of things. On informing his boss, Governor Fashola directed the gates be reopened because those who came to seal them up yesterday acted on their own directives without the Governors knowledge. Great stuff!

Over 30 houses, shops razed in Ibadan petroleum tanker accident

The sad incident occurred on Monday afternoon April 22nd in the Omitowoju area of Ibadan, in Oyo State. The fire started after a fully loaded petroleum tanker passing through a residential area fell off the road and spilled its 33, 000 litres of petrol.

Over 30 houses and and at least 30 shops in the area were burnt to ashes. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) eventually put out the fire but couldn't say for sure if anyone was killed by the fire.

The Deputy president of the country was the chief guest at the opening.
