Funerals began Monday in the city of Santa Maria, Brazil, where the blaze took place

Shocking Secrets about Taiwo Aromokun Hubby

Some weeks ago, news filtered everywhere that Yoruba actress, Taiwo Aromokun was secretly married in London to a London-based lover, Olayemi Abimbola popularly called 'Ogun Re' by many in Holland.

Soon after the wedding to 'Ogun Re', the actress took a swipe on Nigerian men living in Nigeria claiming that all they (Nigerian men living in Nigeria) know how to do is to use and dump 'celebrities' like her. She then reportedly stated that it now became necessary for 'them (celebs)' to go for guys based abroad.

Here are some shocking revelation about Taiwo Aromokun's husband, Ogun Re.

According to a source in London, 'Ogun Re', Taiwo Aromukun's hubby, had been in Holland for over 13 years. We learnt that he has no legitimate job he does over there. What he does for a living is known to us now, but we would reveal that soonest as that is another big story to watch out for.

'Ogun Re', reliable sources maintained, has two kids he had from a Surinam woman in Holland. Suriname is a Dutch colonised region. What we can authoritatively inform you is that the Surinam woman, as at the moment, doesn't know that Ogun Re is now married to Taiwo Aromokun, the popular Yoruba actress in Nigeria.

His first child, a son, is well over six years old now. Few years ago, when he clocked one, 'Ogun Re' staged an elaborate birthday bash for him in Holland. It was Pasuma Alabi, the Fuji musician, that thrilled the guests that day.

About few years ago, after living in Holland without legitimate papers, and hiding from the Dutch authorities by escaping deportation, he was finally granted amnesty or what is commonly called pardon by the Dutch authorities to stay in Holland when the government pardoned some illegal immigrants who have lived in Holland for over 10 years, a category he fell into.

The Dutch government gave political asylum seekers and others, who could prove to have been in the Netherlands on or before April 1, 2001, an amnesty. But that didn't give him a Dutch citizenship passport.

But with the pardon he presently has, 'Ogun Re' cannot enjoy full benefits of a citizen or a holder of a Dutch passport, but he can only live in Holland without hiding from the authorities like he used to.

On his reported wedding in London, We can authoritatively tell you that 'Ogun Re' can never legitimately enter London or the UK because of his papers (his pardon by Dutch authorities) doesn't permit him to legitimately enter the UK, but he can enter Schengen countries legitimately. To enter London, he would need to apply for a visa with prove of a legitimate job or a social benefit.

Sources in London sworn to us that the wedding didn't take place in London as reported by the Nigerian media, unless he illegally sneaked in, which might put him into trouble.

"I can tell you that Ogun Re can never do that wedding here in London. He wan thief am (pigin English)?" our source asked.

As it is now, our source informed us that Taiwo Aromokun cannot join her 'husband', 'Ogun Re', in Holland just as 'Ogun Re' may not also relocate to Nigeria to live with Taiwo Aromokun because of two things 1. his babymama and kids in Holland and 2. he may not be able to live like a guy that has spent over 15 years abroad because he would be expected to live like a rich guy in Nigeria.

Musician Kicked Out Of Home 3 Weeks After Marriage For Battering Wife In Public

An upcoming musician, Gbemi Adetuberu, married to Ibadan society lady and interior decorator, Laide, has been booted out of the latter’s apartment allegedly for physical assaults barely three weeks after their society wedding on November 8, 2012, at one of the Akure branches of RCCG. Mrs Olaide Adetuberu reportedly sent her husband, Mr. Gbemi Adetuberu, out of her apartment for allegedlly making the heat in the kitchen unbearable for her with his endless beatings.

It was alleged that Gbemi was seen 20 days after the N4m wedding, beating the living daylight out of his wife in Lagos during an event that had foreign guests in attendance. The interior decorator was said to have kept mum over the battery allegation but eventually did opened the Pandora box after getting the nod of her lawyer. The lady confirmed that she had been through hell in the hands of her husband.

She described her husband, Gbemi, as a violent husband whom she had hoped would change in marriage. Hear her: “He used to beat me even before we got married, but I believed he would change once we got married. I was wrong.”

Claiming that she had invested millions of naira in her husband’s musical career since they started dating a year and a few months ago, Laide said Gbemi was not appreciative enough “to show some seriousness in his career” to justify her investment in his life. “He had always been interested in music, a passion that I passionately invested money in just to please him even though my parents wanted him to be a prophet. Because I wanted to support him, I paid almost N200,000 for him to participate at the NIMEX exhibition held at the Muson Centre, apart from other amounts spent on him”, she added.

At the exhibition on November 28, both had agreed that Laide would stay in the car outside the venue of the exhibition to get some rest as she had been exhausted by preparations for the event, and that Gbemi should join her in the car once he was done auditioning at the event. Gbemi was said to have been through in less than 30 minutes after he was called on stage, but didn’t go to join his wife in the car as both had agreed. Worried, she looked for Gbemi and found him chatting with an usher.

Not wanting to cause a scene however, she walked up to her husband, asked the usher to excuse her as she wanted to talk to her husband, and both strolled into the venue of the exhibition.

They talked briefly but Laide said she could sense from her husband’s countenance that he was getting worked up. Laide ignored Gbemi, who had shouted at her that they should leave the event and go home. “He didn’t care whether we were at a public place, he continued to raise his voice at me”, she said.

Laide said she was ashamed as Gbemi continued to shout at her that she should leave Muson Centre start going home. She refused to do as she was instructed by her husband and his next action was to slap her. “I was stunned.

He just kept beating me right there in public and astonished guests couldn’t do anything. It took the intervention of security officials before I could be rescued from him. He beat me blue black. I never expected he would beat me like that in public. I had expected that he would wait till we got home, he didn’t. He has come to beg me, but I am afraid of losing my life because that is how he has been beating me from time.

Even my friends warned me not to marry him because each time he came to beg me after beating me, I always forgave him. But I’m now afraid for my life”. She said that her in-laws were aware of the ugly development, but that each time she reported Gbemi, his parents always waded in and Gbemi would always promise not to beat her again.

She also said she reported these beatings to some of her friends. “After the Lagos beating, I decided to send him out of my apartment because the suffering was getting too much for me. I reported to the police at Iyaganku in Ibadan, because he has started threatening me via e-mails since he can’t come to my house. I have refused to take him back but I’m still afraid he may break into my house one day to injure me.”

However, the musician, Gbemi is yet to say his own side of the story.

Daughter exposes father whose gang killed four policemen

Lagos police boss, Umar Manko

A17-year-old girl identified simply as Simi has exposed the hiding place of her robber father to the officials of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Lagos State Police Command.
Her father, Ife, was the alleged leader of a 10-man robbery gang that killed four policemen in Ajah during a robbery operation two weeks ago.

On January 15, 2012 that the dead policemen were responding to a distress call when they were ambushed by the robbers.
Simi did not give her father up easily. She gave the information the police needed to arrest her father after a four-hour non-stop interrogation.

Ironically, it was the love that Ife’s wife, Taiye, had for her daughter that first alerted the police to the existence of the daughter.
On the day that the gang killed the policemen, they left the area in a hurry. In their haste, Ife accidentally dropped his handset.
The police downloaded the numbers on the phone and after a thorough screening, they were able to get the telephone number belonging to Taiye. They subsequently tagged the number.
Meanwhile, Taiye has a frozen food and drinks shop at Sola Arodoye Street, Ijaye, Lagos. A resident in the community told PUNCH Metro that Taye had not been coming to the shop for about two weeks.
She said, “We noticed that she stopped coming to the shop for a while. Even Ife was absent at that period of time. It was Simi who was left to run the shop. Taye had introduced Simi to us as her younger sister. It wasn’t until her arrest last week that we knew that Simi was her daughter.”
Ife and his wife were said to have switched off both their phones and afterwards fled Lagos. But last week Thursday, Taye finally made a call with her phone to check on Simi. She called on one Funke, who lives close to the shop to give the phone to Simi so she could speak with her.
Two hours after that call was made, some SARS operatives traced Funke to her place of work at a nearby school and arrested her.
A police source said, “Funke was interrogated for more than five hours. The SARS operatives thought she was a member of the gang too. Eventually they discovered she knew nothing about Ife except as a neighbour. It was Funke who led the SARS operatives to Taye’s shop at Sola Arodoye street.”
The team then arrested Simi after Funke identified her and took her to Ojokoro Police Division.
For four hours, Simi repeatedly denied knowledge of her parents’ whereabouts. When the police showed no intention of stopping the interrogation, she eventually agreed to cooperate with the SARS team.
The team accompanied the teenager to her parents’ home at Beckley estate, U-turn bus stop at Abule Egba. Ife and Taye had just returned from Abeokuta where they had fled to.
The source said, “Ife tried to escape but was shot in the process. In his wife’s travelling box were hidden two pistols, one AK 47 rifle and a locally made double barrelled gun. Clearly, Taye was aware that Ife was an armed robber.”
One of the residents at Sola Arodoye said they thought that Ife was a worker with a paint manufacturing company.
She said, “Some of us had often wondered what Ife did for a living because he was usually at his wife’s shop all day till she closed at night. Those who dared to ask said Taye had told them Ife worked in his father’s paint company.”
The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ngozi Braide, when contacted said some arrests had been made.
Braide said, “Ife was actually arrested last week. Efforts are being made to apprehend other members of his gang on the run.
“Ife was also involved in a Thermocool robbery in 2011. He has been on the command’s wanted list for years.”

21 Year-Old Nigerian Hanged Himself in UK Cell for Fear of Being Deported

An inquest into the death of a Nigerian detainee, Riliwanu Balogun who was found hanged at a Young Offender’s Institute in the UK a day after his 21st birthday in 2011 has revealed he killed himself because he feared being sent back to Nigeria.
According to a BBC Report, Balogun moved to the UK when he was seven years old and spent much of his childhood in institutions.
A senior prison officer, Paul Mayfield said at the hearing that he was scared of being deported back to Nigeria. “He told me he had nothing to live for. He said ‘I’ll be deported back to Nigeria. I’ve got no-one back there. I’ll be living in the slums’.BBC reports.
In April 2011, Balogun was transferred to Glen Parva Young Offender’s Institute in Leicester, which holds men aged 18 to 21. But on May 8, 2011, he was found hanged in his cell. The morning he was found hanged, he was assessed by staff after cutting himself.
It was reported that he was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary after staff tried to revive him but died a week later.
The hearing also revealed he had a string of previous convictions and that at the end of April he struggled to speak to a nurse because he was sobbing so hard.
It’s really shocking to hear such news which speaks very little of the living standards and quality of life here in Nigeria. He was only 21 and killed himself because he feared being deported back to Nigeria, a place where he knew no one and would probably live in the slums. May his soul rest in peace.

Gospel Singer, Funmi Aragbaye Defrauded Of N6.5m By Ibadan Socialite

Before now, a lot of people wondered why the beautiful and talented gospel singer, Evangelist Funmi Aragbaye has refused to shine as she used to be. It was recently discovered that, she was being duped of almost N7m by a certain Ibadan socialite.

Aragbaye, www.nigeriafilms.com gathered purchased some acres of land from this woman, Deaconess Oladeji Adetoun popularly referred to as ‘For the Mama Ke’ but she (Funmi) was stunned when it was later discovered that the said land belonged to someone else.

In most instances in Africa, especially Nigeria, land matters are usually very sensitive. Three things are likely to be involved; it is either the real land owners sell to two people and retrieve the said land in either a forceful manner or sell to sell the piece of land to someone else under the false pretence that the owner failed to develop it for a period of time.

In the case of Evangelist Aragbaye and Deaconess Adetoun Oladeji, a.k.a “For the Mama ke”, where both claimed their innocence, the over two years of battle to determine whether the land sold by the former was a case of fraud or otherwise, is beginning to take another dimension.

As you are reading this, Evangelist Funmi and Deaconess Adetoun are at loggerheads, though, both claimed innocence of what has become of the land, meanwhile, the artiste, Funmi, is yet to get out of the shock of the money she has lost on the acres of land.

Serena Williams tweets pic of hugely swollen ankle

When Serena Williams claimed in her post-match interview that injury had cost her the chance of Australian Open victory, and said that her ankle was "this big"  while moving her hands in the air to denote a watermelon-sized object, the world of tennis raised its eyebrows and chuckled at what seemed like a bit of innocent exaggerating to make her point.
But as the grotesquely swollen limb you see on the bottom of this page shows, there was no hyperbole about her claims. Because while it may look like a prop from The Nutty Professor, the limb below is actually Serena Williams's right ankle, courtesy of Serena's Twitter feed.
Williams lost to American Sloane Stephens in her quarter-final at the Australian Open, the first time a younger American had ever beaten Serena and while it was a huge upset a lot had to do with the health of Williams.
Hopefully the ankle, and Serena, will return to form when the French Open rolls around in late May.
