Miss Global Nigeria Runner-Up, Gbemisola Shotade Visits Ogun State First Lady, Flies To Jamaica For Miss UN Pageant

After becoming the first runner-up at the 2012 edition of the prestigious annual Miss Global Nigeria beauty pageant, charming Gbemisola Shotade, who is the daughter of sound engineer legend, Adetokunbo Shotade, is now set to fly the flag of Nigeria very high in Jamaica as she represents the country at the Miss United Nations beauty pageant holding in Usein Bolt's country.

Before embarking on her trip to Jamaica, Gbemisola and her crew, which comprises her Chaperson, Faith Irabor, visited the First Lady of her state, Ogun, Mrs Funsho Amosun on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 to receive a mother's blessing as she (Gbemisola) jets out of Nigeria to Jamaica for the beauty contest. An epitome of beauty herself, Funsho Amosun was happy to see another pretty daughter of the state flying the bright colours of Ogun State with the help of Miss Global Nigeria organisers with her beauty.

The First Lady gave her blessing to Gbemisola as she makes womanhood, Ogun State and Nigeria proud as a worthy ambassador in Jamaica and she prayed the Queen brings the crown to Nigeria at the Miss United Nations beauty show.

Speaking  on her visit to Ogun State, Gbemisola said, "Every queen's reign isn't complete without her visiting her home state, and that is why I am happy when I visited home (yes I call my state home). The reception is something I won't forget in a hurry and one thing that gave me joy was the fact that myself and the first lady would be working on my pet project which happens to be one of hers as well."

On her expectations as she goes to Jamaica, an elated Gbemisola stated, "I'm happy the dream as finally come, and I don't have to wait any longer. As I go, I know that the prayers of my family, loved ones, well wishers and fans will go with me. I'm very grateful for this opportunity. God bless Nigeria and the entire Miss Global Nigeria team for this.

"I am seriously eyeing the crown although it won't be easy but I'll try my best and leave the rest to God. I am also looking forward to meeting other queen ambassadors from all over the world and I can't wait to show them what rich culture we have and the bond of unity in us as a great country as well."

The Miss Global Nigeria team jets out to Jamaica with the queen today. The event holds from December 1-9, 2012.
