Ekiti varsity students protest death of final year student

Students of the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti on Friday went on the rampage and set ablaze six vehicles including an ambulance belonging to the institution, a bus, and a security van parked in front of the administrative block.
No fewer than 15 other vehicles were damaged during the violent protest which forced other students as well as members of staff to vacate the campus.
Armed policemen were seen at the entrance of the university on Saturday while an armour personnel carrier was also seen patrolling the campus.
It was gathered that the protest was triggered when the news of the death of a final year student of Accountancy Department, Abiola Teslim Yusuf, who was knocked down by a vehicle filtered into the campus.
Some of the students told our correspondent that Yusuf and some other students had asked the driver of the vehicle, who had come to drop his friend, for money but he refused.
While trying to speed away from the scene, the car was said to have knocked down the student.
The deceased student was said to be a leader of a cult group on the campus and members of his cult were said to have mobilised other cultists and unleashed terror on the campus.
Our correspondent who visited the campus on Saturday observed that apart from the vehicles burnt and those whose windscreens were shattered, virtually all the buildings on the campus had their window panes shattered by the rampaging students.
The Vice-Chancellor of EKSUTH, Prof. Oladipo Aina, who later addressed journalists, said the damage done to the university was unprecedented.
He said the authority would fish out all those who participated in the destruction of the university whether they are students or members of staff.
The vice chancellor said the accident which eventually led to the death of the student happened on Wednesday and the student was taken to a hospital in Ikere for treatment.
According to him, the victim was transferred to an intensive care unit at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital but the hospital could not handle the case because there was no neurosurgeon to attend to him

Lagos: 248 escape death in Qatar Airways plane emergency landing

There was palpable fear at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos Saturday afternoon, as a Qatar Airways plane coming from Doha, the capital of Qatar, made an emergency landing due to a flat tyre.
The pilot of the Airbus A330-200 plane had sent a distress call to air traffic controllers on duty at the airport, telling them that one of his tyres had low pressure.
The aircraft carrying 248 passengers touched down on runway 18R of the airport at about 1:15pm with a burst tyre.
Scores of fire fighters from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Lagos State Fire Service and the Federal Fire Service had been mobilised to the airport.
Rescue workers from the National Emergency Management Agency, Julius Berger among others had also been waiting for the distressed aircraft.
A few minutes after the aircraft made the landed, it was towed to the parking bay of the international wing of the airport.
The panic-stricken passengers were however, unwilling to speak to journalists.
The Information Officer, NEMA, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, who led the emergency process on behalf of the agency, told reporters that the agency had received a distress call from airport authorities as early as 10am.
Farinloye added that the aircraft was said to have had a tyre burst on the rear side of the aircraft, a situation that required emergency landing.
He said the agency consequently mobilised and coordinated an emergency landing which included several agencies such as the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Civil Defence Corps.
He noted that the aircraft landed safely.
The Director-General, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Dr. Harold Demuren, said the pilot took precautionary steps to land the aircraft the way he did.
He confirmed that the aircraft had low pressure in one of the tyres.
An official of Qatar Airways in Lagos said the airline had no official reaction to the development since the aircraft landed safely.

Hajj commission resumes airlift of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia

The National Hajj Commission on Sunday resumed the airlift of Muslim pilgrims from different states to Saudi Arabia for this year’s hajj.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that 60,000 pilgrims were airlifted from Lagos, Niger, Kaduna and Sokoto states as well as the Federal Capital Territory.
The resumption of hajj operations follows a diplomatic spat between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia over the detention and deportation of over 1000 Nigerian female pilgrims by Saudi authorities for allegedly failing to be accompanied by male companions for the exercise.
The commission had suspended the airlift for a few days to enable officials from both countries to sort out the issue.

Nine-year-old boy killed, three others injured as terrorists attack church in Kenya

A nine-year-old boy was killed and three other children wounded when a hand grenade was thrown into a Sunday school session in a church in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, police and medical staff said.
Kenya has suffered a series of grenade attacks since it sent troops across the border into Somalia last October in pursuit of Islamist al Shabaab militants who it blamed for kidnapping its security personnel and Western tourists.
The attack on the church came days after Kenyan troops launched a surprise offensive on the southern Somali port of Kismayu, the last stronghold of the al Shabaab, forcing the rebels to flee, Reuters reports.
Police said attackers threw the grenade into the Sunday school service in St. Polycarp’s church on Nairobi’s Juja Road.
The grenade exploded, spraying the children with shrapnel and fatally injuring the boy.
“We suspect this blast might have been carried out by sympathisers of al Shabaab,” said deputy police spokesman Charles Owino.
“These are the kicks of a dying horse since, of late, Kenyan police have arrested several suspects in connection with grenades,” he added.
Masked assailants launched simultaneous gun and grenade raids on two churches in the northern town of Garissa in July, killing at least 17 people.

FBI Reveals Why Nigerian-Born Christmas Day bomber’s Underwear Failed to Detonate – “Because he had worn them for THREE WEEKS!”

On December 25th, 2009, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, a Nigerian tried to detonate an explosive aboard a Northwest Flight 253 over Detroit in the United States of America. As the son of one of Nigeria’s most prominent businessmen and someone who had access to international travel and a world-class education, his terrorist act took Nigeria by surprise.
Umar has since been sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. However, the FBI has recently revealed the reason why the explosives failed to go off.
During his trial he said the bomb in his underwear was a ‘blessed weapon’ to avenge poorly treated Muslims around the world.
Two FBI agents told WXYZ TV that Umar confessed to the plot, saying that he had worn the explosive underwear for three weeks in order to get used to it and make sure he could get it through security.
“So basically for three weeks he wore this garment, these underwear with this device in it. We think ultimately that is probably what caused the disruption in the sequence of events in the explosion,” said FBI agent Ted Peissig.

Nigerian @ 52:The Pains & Gains

Celebrating Nigeria @ 52

By tommorow, Nigeria will turn 52. Yet there are no signs of ageing, just youthful exuberance verging on chaotic impulsiveness. What a phenomenal country we have.
By an act of the British Parliament Nigeria became an Independent country within the Commonwealth on October1, 1960 , Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe was installed as governor general of the federation and Balewa continued to serve as head of democratically elected parliamentary, but now completely sovereign, government. The governor general represented the British monarch as head of state and was appointed by the crown on the advice of the Nigerian prime minister in consultation with the regional premiers.

Eight Military regimes succeeded, beginning in 1966, interspersed between the fourth and fifth military regime by a return to civilian rule with the second Republic between October 1979 and December 1983. The final military regime left power on May 29, 1999, when the current fourth Republic was installed and the President was democratically elected.
It was under the second Military regime ( July,1966 to July 1975) that some of Nigeria’s major development programmes were established, such as the extensive expansion and exploitation of Nigeria’s mineral resources culminating in the oil Boom’ which in no small measure changed the economy, the taste and living standard of many Nigerians. It was also, unfortunately, a time of war, on August 9, 1967, Nigeria declared full-scale on ‘Biafra” after its forces had invaded and captured the Mid-west state. With Biafra’s collapse in 1970, the region was reunited with the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a period of reconciliation and reconstruction followed.
The government also introduced various forms of bursaries, scholarships and students loan scheme in the 1970s, a government review programme for the improvement in salaries and wages; the Nigerianisation Decree compelling all foreign firms operating in Nigeria to nationalize or leave; the changing of road traffic from left to right hand drive, the changing of the national currency to naira and kobo and the establishment of organized federal councils for the arts, sciences, Universities, sports and Agriculture, corruption was a major cause of strife under the military regimes and it took years for Nigeria to get its house in order.

In the history of Nigeria’s independence, the Northern region have ruled the country for 37 consecutive years while the Southern region is just 15 years which the present leadership of president Goodluck Jonathan is at decimal point of envious. On May 29, 1999 Nigeria returned from the Military interregnum to civilian government which brought the then President Olusegun Obasanjo to power. Through out the rulership of the military regimes, Nigeria experienced several military bloody coups that almost divided the country into two, if not God’s intervention. The Military government came to power in pretence of restoring sanity in the government which was gravely disabused by the powers-that-be. Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was in power for eight consecutive years with little achievements which Telecommunication was restored totally from the ramshackle of bad Military leaders. Though OBJ almost transited his government into third term bid which was thrown into the waste can by the National Assembly senators.

Come to think of Nigeria’s independence from 1960, Nigeria has been embedded with high profile corruption which is traced to public office holders in the country. The independence only gives us monumental freedom from foreign policies while the living standard of Nigerians sill remains where it is because of bad leadership that entangled the entire process. The purpose of this political independence has been totally defeated. No government has able to provide adequately for its citizens. Though the Military regimes did well in uniting Nigerians after the bloody civil war that lasted for three years. Every Nigerian leader that has ruled the country had its own shortcomings which overshadowed the positive achievements. At 50. Nigeria was lavishly celebrated which many achievements were attested to Nigerians that cares to listen. That celebration of Nigeria at 50 also experienced innocent killings of Nigerians through Boko Haram insurgence which one Niger Delta activist claimed responsibility of that infamous act.

Moreover, Celebrating Nigeria at 52, it is worthy to be celebrated because Nigeria has able to sustain civilian government to civilian government without interruption of the Military government. Nigeria presently has 124 universities, Polytechnics and colleges of Education but the standard of the educational system has drastically dropped in all ramifications. Even the high brain-drain in our Nigerian universities is nothing to write home about. President Goodluck Jonathan is gradually restoring the power sector with high bills to the electricity users. The attempt to introduce #5000 note by CBN governor Sanusi is an unjust policy but was thrown out of the system by the National Assembly senators. Thus, Nigeria is greatly battling with insecurity threats where thousands of Nigerians have been abruptly killed in the north while property worth billions of naira destroyed by the Boko Haram.

It is time for present Nigerian leaders to see the Independence celebration as time to reflect our past leaders that took time to fight for the political emancipation of the country. President Goodluck Jonathan should use this independence celebration to critically looked at the ailing sectors of the economy that needed urgent attention especially oil and gas sector where the current fuel scarcity is plaguing on Nigerians, Aviation, Education, Health, Sports and just mention but a few.

Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Happy Independence !!!

Hajj: 171 Nigerian female deported

The Federal Government yesterday gave 24 hours ultimatum to Saudi authorities to rescind its decision on the detained 400 Nigerian female pilgrims.
The ultimatum came on the heel of the deportation of another 171 pilgrims of Taraba and Katsina States origin, who were denied entry into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Some 400 Nigerian female pilgrims were detained on Sunday at King Abdul-Aziz International Airport, Jeddah for travelling unaccompanied by their husbands or approved male partners.
As at Wednesday night, Saudi authorities were still threatening to deport the pilgrims, who were from Jigawa and Sokoto States.
But yesterday, the Senate urged President Goodluck Jonathan to dialogue with the Arabian king to resolve the plight of the women, who were disallowed from gaining entry into the country to perform this year Hajj.
A total of 171 deportees arrived at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, at about 6pm yesterday on board a Max Air airline, as more pilgrims were being expected to arrive with Kabo Air.
While the 53 pilgrims from Taraba State disembarked at Kano, their Katsina State counterparts, who departed Nigeria last night, were flown to Katsina State.
Some of the rejected pilgrims, who shared their sad experiences with reporters on arrival at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, said they suffered untold hardship during their brief stay in Saudi Arabia.
According to Hajia Aisha Ibrahim Mohammed from Taraba State, they spent three days in Medina, Saudi Arabia, adding that they were hungry as they were starved for the whole of the three days that they were under custody.
With tears, Hajia Medinatu Jalingo equally expressed disgust at the shabby treatment meted to them by Saudi officials, adding that at some point “we were shouting and we were about to protest, but they sent their officers after us.”
At its plenary sitting yesterday, the Upper Legislative Chamber adopted a motion sponsored by Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and 16 other senators, including Senate Leader Victor Ndoma-Egba, Ayogu Eze, Abu Ibrahim, Smart Adeyemi and Helen Esuene.
Besides, the Senate also urged its Deputy Leader, Abdul Ningi, to urgently bring up the matter with SHOORA and ASECA, to which Nigeria belongs, for quick resolution.
Senate President David Mark said efforts must be made to ensure that the pilgrims were released and allowed to perform hajj.
Mark said: “Saudi is a member of SHOORA. SHOORA is the Arab and African parliaments that are working together and Senator Ningi is the one who represents us there.
“He should just talk to the member of Saudi there. Apart from the efforts made so far by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I think we should ask the President to talk directly to Saudi authorities. We should do everything possible to ensure that our pilgrims, having gone far, are allowed to perform the hajj.”
The Chairman, Foreign Affairs Committee, Senator Ifeanyi Nwagwu, said it was evident that the pilgrims were held in unpleasant conditions, while Senator Dahiru Awaisu Kuta suggested that the Federal Government be asked to raise a team to address the plight of the detained pilgrims.

Lesbian Daughter laughs off father's £40m offer to any man who could turn her straight

The lesbian daughter of a billionaire playboy has laughed off her father's 'marriage bounty' of nearly £40 million to any man who can turn his daughter straight.
One of Hong Kong's richest men, Cecil Chao Sze-tsung, made the offer after his daughter Gigi married her girlfriend of seven years Seab Eav in France.
Refusing to accept the gay union, the property and shipping tycoon pledged the fortune to any potential male suitor able to walk Gigi down the aisle at a traditional wedding.
Father Cecil Chao has dismissed 'false reports' of his daughter's lesbian nuptials and insists she is still singleLesbian Gigi Chao has laughed off her father Hong Kong tycoon Cecil Chao Sze-tsung's £40million offer to find her a husband

But his daughter, a 33-year-old University of Manchester graduate said she thought the HKD500 million Hong Kong dollar offer - the equivalent of £39.8 million - was 'quite entertaining'.
She told the South China Morning Post: 'Sometimes people just refuse to accept what they are told.

I don’t mind whether he is rich or poor – the important thing is that he is generous and kind-hearted,’ he said of the ideal husband for his daughter.
‘Gigi is a very good woman with both talents and looks. She is devoted to her parents, is generous and does volunteer work,’ he told the South China Morning Post.
Same-sex marriages are not recognised in Hong Kong.
According to reports, the spat between Mr Chao and his daughter erupted last week when she announced at an event in Beijing that she tied the knot with her long-term lover, Sean Eav, five months ago.
A regular on the city’s social circuit and in celebrity magazines, Mr Chao has never been married. Gigi is the oldest of his three children with three mothers.
In addition to the dowry, he has also offered to start his potential son-in-law up in his own business.
He said the prize money was ‘an inducement to attract someone who has the talent, but not the capital, to start his own business’.
Miss Chao graduated from university in 1999 with a degree in architecture. She went on to work for two years with prominent British architect Sir Terry Farrell.

JTF recovers bombs, guns in Adamawa raids

A combined team of soldiers, policemen and State Security Service officials have recovered bombs and guns during house-to-house searches in Mubi, Adamawa State, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Brigade Commander, 23rd Amoured Brigade, Yola, Brig.-Gen. John Nwaoga, confirmed this in Mubi on Monday.
This came as suspected kidnappers abducted two children of a businessman, Osayawe Iyamu, in Benin and the kidnap of the son-in-law of Bauchi State Governor Isa Yuguda.
Nwaoga said the searches were carried out following the killings and attacks on communication masts in Mubi.
He said the efforts yielded results with arms and ammunition, including explosives, recovered.
He said that one suspect, who engaged the security agents in a shootout, was killed.
The army chief, who did not give the number of persons arrested, said those arrested would be screened.
The state government has since imposed 24-hour curfew in Mubi for the past two days.
Iyamu’s driver, whose name could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report, was said to be driving the children to school when the gunmen struck.
The incident occurred close to the businessman’s house located at Iguosa, behind the 7UP Bottling plant, Oluku near Benin.
Residents of the area, who rushed out of their houses to witness the incident, reportedly fled on sighting the kidnappers brandishing their guns.
Some of the residents believed the driver argued with the kidnappers, prompting them to shoot him.
Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, Anthony Airhuoyo, said he had yet to be briefed.
Narrating the incident to NAN in Bauchi on Monday, Garba Dahiru, said Yuguda’s in-law, Mohammed Abubakar, was kidnapped at about 5am on his way to the mosque.
Dahiru said, “He, along with his son and a son to his elder brother were heading for the mosque when some gunmen attacked and took him away in their car.”
Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Ladan, confirmed the incident, saying one person had been arrested in connection with Abubakar’s abduction.

Three arrested for kidnapping, killing Lagos businessman

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three men -Ogbuesor Sadiq, Abdulwahab Mutairu and Adenola Lanre- for the alleged kidnap and murder of a businessman, Akinsanjo Akinlade.
Akinlade was alleged murdered in Ogijo, a border town between Lagos and Ogun states on August 31, 2012.
According to police authorities, the suspects kidnapped, killed Akinlade and dumped his body in Ogijo.
It was learnt that the suspects ransacked their victim’s apartment and dispossessed him of jewellery, laptop and other valuables.
The suspects later abducted the man, drove him in his car to an unknown destination from where they called his wife to demand for a ransom of N200, 000.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said, “When they demanded for ransom from the deceased’s wife, she insisted on speaking to her husband in order to get directive as to where to source for money. However, the kidnappers stopped all communication.”
One of the suspects, Mutairu, said he plotted the kidnap of the deceased.
He said, “My job was to fish out for well-to-do persons around Ikorodu, monitor their movements and get back to the gang. Then, one day, I saw the man driving a jeep and followed him to his house.
“I reported to them and they asked me to monitor when he always came home. I monitored him thrice and discovered he was always coming in at a particular time and informed the gang.”
Mutairu, who claimed the gang did not plan to kill the businessman, said the kidnap turned awry when he (Akinlade) attempted to escape.
He said, “As we all sat in the bush waiting for response from his wife, we heard footsteps of people passing by and he raised the alarm.
“I held his mouth to prevent him from shouting but he kept struggling and in the process, Sadiq started cutting him with a machete and at a point, he became motionless. When we confirmed he was dead, we all left.”
We  learnt that the matter was immediately reported at Ipakodo Police Station from where it was transferred to the State Intelligence.
During investigations, the police were said to have obtained the call logs of Akinlade’s wife’s phone from which they were able to trace one of the suspects, Ogbusor, to Edo state.
Ogbusor was said to have revealed the location of other gang members to the police.
The suspects reportedly confessed and took the policemen to where they killed the Akinlade. His  corpse was found in decomposing state.
The suspects also confessed to have kidnapped one Sekiru Yusu and attempted to kidnap another person in Ikorodu before they were arrested.

Genevieve Nnaji Caught Smoking, Claims It Relaxes Her

Few days ago we shared the shocking revelation of Paul Okoye Of P-Square with, this bobo was caught smoking at Rumours Night club in Lagos last week.

The latest revelation is even more shocking. Iin an excerpt from Charles Novia’s Memoirs titled “Nollywood Till November”, Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji was caught smoking.

Excerpt from the Nollywood Till November below:

“Our mutual professional respect for each other developed the more. I remember on the third day of recording, one night while shooting at a clinic in Victoria Garden City Extension, I came out for a bit of fresh air while the technical people were setting up for the next scene.

Genevieve Nnaji Is A Smoker

I saw Genevieve in a dark corner of the building, smoking a cigarette. ‘Whoops! You caught me’, she said, laughing. ‘You smoke?’ I asked, a bit surprised. ‘Now and then. It relaxes me ’ she said.”

It’s very shocking to hear that Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji is a smoker.

While Tonto Dike is thanking God for deliverance from smoking, others are busy smoking their lungs out.

Geni we love you but smoking is injurious to your health.

We hope you get over it.

How to Have a Successful Marriage – Foluke Daramola

1. Olympic Spirit: Olympic spirit is the spirit of competition. It has crept into many marriages where couples who are supposed to work as partners are working as rivals. Lovers now work as foes. They compete about building their own houses, buying cars and about winning the love of their children.

Solution: You are partners, don’t compete. You are lovers, don’t fight. You are companions, work in unity. Don’t ever see each other as competitors but as companions.

2. Lovelessness Husbands are commanded by God to love their wives and not be bitter against them. “Husbands love your wives and be not bitter against them”. Colossians 3:19. Love for your wife should be deep in your heart. When you allow her love to depart, you are making room for a difficult marriage.

Solution: Love your wife and don’t compare her with to any other woman. Verbalize the love. Tell her “I love you” often. Show the love to her by getting her gifts and give her your undivided attention.

3. Disunity Not walking as one, no fondness, divided house is the end result of so many negative things in marriage. United we stand, divided we fall. There is no place this saying is more true than in marriage.

Solution: Walk in love, walk as one. Stand together, stand as one. Stand in unity. Join your hands together, join your mind also. Have the same voice, the same vision, the same focus and the same destination.

Parents beg Lagos teachers to shelve strike

Parents of pupils in public schools in Lagos State have appealed to teachers in the employment of the state government not to embark on strike on Monday as they threatened.
The parents made the appeal in interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Lagos.
They said that although the teachers had a good reason to embark on the strike, they should explore other ways of pressing home their demands for the sake of pupils and students.

Life goes on-Kate Henshaw

Rumour of her marriage being in trouble made the headlines last year. After this, she tried to make appearances at social events. But her appearances in movies reduced drastically.
Now, it seems the storm is over for Kate. She now beams with smiles and wears a new look- a trimmer physique with dreadlocks to match. This much was noticed at a recently held event in Lagos.

I love having sex with children –Paedophile

A 33-year-old man, Nkemakonam Nwoke is in trouble because he molested female minors . Nwoke who lived at 7, Chief Nwatu Street Emene, Enugu is said to have defiled eight female kids of ages ranging between 3 and 6 years at his neighborhood.
Nkem’s molestation of the eight minors was unnoticed until one of the girls who could no longer cope reported to her mother that the man was doing ‘bad-bad’ things with them. With further probing , the said parent was able to get the truth from her daughter who confessed that the man was molesting eight of them one after the other. Consequently, parents of the victims contacted Mediating for the Less Privileged and Women Development and the man was arrested.
Dr. (Mrs.) Betty Agujiobi who runs the NGO recalled how she got involved in the matter. Said she: “I received a distress call from Emene, so I rushed there and it was a case of a 33 year-old man defiling minors in his area. One of the children was no longer comfortable with his lewd tendencies and she had to report to her mother and that was how the community knew.
The man had been defiling the children for over one year .” “When I got there I had to interview the man and he admitted doing it . Asked why he molested the children he said he didn’t know, that he takes delight in having sexual relationship with children. He said he’s shy and can’t talk to mature girls. “I probed further to find out if probably he used his fingers or his manhood and he told me he didn’t use his fingers but his manhood. The oldest amongst his victims appeared to be very shy to say what the young man had been doing with them.
Others told me what happened and they spoke in Igbo saying Nkem na eme anyi ihe aruruala (Nkem does bad-bad things to us). I asked further to find out the type of bad things he was doing to them and they explained what he had been doing with them and I had no option than to contact the police. The police came and arrested the man and he also told them the truth. He said he would not deny it and that probably God wanted to expose him .”
My candid advice to parent is to be careful with their children especially the females.

Anti-US protests hit Kano: Obama’s effigy, American flag burnt

Anti-America demonstrators, yesterday marched across some parts of Kano State capital to protest the production of an anti- Muslim film in the United States. The protest march which was generally peaceful, started off in the morning hours but terminated just at about midday, with protesters chanting anti – American slogans. The protesters burnt American flags and torched effigies of the US president, Barrack Obama.
The protestests began at Fagge Manssalachi Waje (Mosque) in the heart of the state capital through to Ibrahim Taiwo Road to Kofar Mata area and finally Kano Central Mosque. The demonstrators, who were largely of the Shitte Muslim Sect, similarly carried placards with anti -American inscription and messages, some of which were written in Arabic. They were later addressed by the leader of the Shitte Sect in Kano State, Sheik Mohammed Turi. Speaking to the protesters, he expressed anger and profound bitterness over the anti -Muslim film produced in America and held that the American government ought to have enacted laws to protect the values of other people.
According to him, if American authorities have laws that protect their own values, they are duty bound to promulgate laws that will protect the cherished values of people who do not share their values. He said that the protest was not just about Muslims but a demand for respect for mankind, warning that Muslims were not going to fold their arms and watch America devalue their religion. One of the leaflets condemning the film and distributed to onlookers read, “a great catastrophe has befallen the world” following the production of the film.
The leaflet declared that “the filthy hands of enemies of Islam were once again, “becoming restless and becoming impatient and frustrated with the daily, increasing radiance of Islam and the Holy Qur’an in the present world”. The spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force in the state, ASP Majiya Magaji could not be reached for comment, but the consensus was that it was generally a peaceful outing. It could be recalled that in the last few days, there have been protests in different parts of the Muslim world following the release of the film.
